I had the opportunity to work with Carissa Galvan in my divorce case. While the divorce itself was completely unexpected and consequently the worst time of my life, I can't begin to imagine what it would have been like without Carissa to guide me through the legal process. She is absolutely not 'just an attorney'; she is someone who truly cares and treats you as a genuine friend. It's impossible to put into words how painful a divorce is, and having someone like Carissa to help you makes at least the legal process side of things make sense. Carissa doesn't make you feel like a number and just have you deal with other people in the office should you need anything; she personally checks in and communicates with you directly on top of the rest of the team working with you. It's hard to put into words how helpful it is to have someone reliable when your world is turned upside down. I'll always be grateful for her help and her heart! I worked with Camille from December of 2023 to September of 2024, and while my ex-husband was extremely frustrating, and dragged the process out as long as he could, Camille was the absolute best part of the whole experience. I have never worked with a lawyer before outside of consulting with my company's internal counsel to approve wording for internal documents so I didn't know much about what to expect. I knew lawyers were supposed to be an educated advocate for their clients, and Camille is absolutely that. I also knew that lawyers were called "representation" and working with Camille I finally understand why. I truly feel REPRESENTED by Camille. She takes the time to answer my questions, and when we sent over proposed temporary orders I feel like I not only understood the entire document, I feel like that document truly represented what I wanted for our boundaries and requirements. Any time there is an email exchange with the opposing counsel (OC) that she needs me to weigh in on I am always amazed by how her response so perfectly captures and articulates my position or requirement or whatever. When we had our pre-game meeting to prepare for mediation, and to try and be prepared I googled "things to include in a divorce decree" or something similar and came across a few articles/reddit threads/quora threads that had "things I wish I had included in my divorce" and I read through a handful and 99.9% were things that Camille had already taken into account. I walked away with a whole lot of gratitude for Camille and her team, and very little in the way of things I wanted to add. I wrote the above and left it as a Google review before the divorce was final, and I still stand by every word. I am 4 months out from my divorce being final and I have only increased in gratitude for Camille and her team, Jessica especially. While being a divorced mom is not easy it was absolutely the right choice, and I am so fortunate to have a lawyer that really cared for me during the process. She hooked me up with a CPA, a financial advisor, a realtor, and even a lender that specialized in helping freshly divorced individuals keep their house or, in my case, get a new one. Every person she recommended has treated me with such care. I owe my current life and stability to Camille and I really truly mean that. I will add to any future divorce clients: Take an active role in what's happening. When you get back discovery documents, go through them yourself with a fine-tooth comb. When you get a document draft from Camille or her team read through it and ask about anything you don't completely understand. Camille will absolutely meet that energy and set you up for success in the best way. I know it's scary and a divorce is all the things we all hate to engage with: paperwork, financial documents, legal language, and confrontation, but you CAN do this and Camille will absolutely be there with you every step of the way.
