The following are the steps of Super Lawyers’ selection process:
- Nominations – Lawyers are nominated by their peers, Super Lawyers’ attorney-led research team, clients, readers, and marketing directors.
- Independent Research – The organization’s research department assesses each candidate based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement: verdicts/settlements, experience, education/employment background, honors/awards, representative clients, transactions, position within the law firm, special licenses/certifications, bar and/or professional activity, scholarly lectures/writings, community service, and other outstanding achievements.
- Peer Evaluation – Candidates with the highest point totals from the first two steps will serve on the Blue Ribbon Panel and evaluate other nominees within their main practice area.
- Final Selection – Candidates are categorized into four firm sizes: solo firms, small firms, large firms, and corporate firms. Those with the highest point totals from each category are chosen.
